PRAYERS FOR 1,048 COMPLETE QUR’AN RECITATIONS HELD IN 81 PROVINCES FOR OUR WAQF FOREFATHERS
Within the scope of the 2026 Waqf Week, our Directorate General organized mawlid programs across the country. As part of these programs—held to preserve the spiritual legacy of our waqf civilization and to commemorate our waqf forefathers with mercy and gratitude—prayers were offered for the 1,048 complete Qur’an recitations (Hatm-i Şerif) completed throughout April by more than 3,000 students studying at Qur’an courses affiliated with the Presidency of Religious Affairs, whose memorization education is supported by our Directorate General.
THE SPIRITUAL DIMENSION OF OUR WAQF CULTURE KEPT ALIVE
The mawlid programs held in all 81 provinces were attended by:
- our Minister of Health, Mr. Kemal Memişoğlu, at the Ersan Mosque in Bitlis;
- our Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Gökhan Yazgı, at the Ulu Mosque in Uşak;
- our Director General, Mr. Sinan Aksu, at the Hacı Bayram-ı Veli Mosque in Ankara;
- and our Regional Directors in all other provinces.
Gathering in mosques before the Friday prayer to listen to the Mawlid al-Sharif, congregants also participated in the prayer dedicated to the souls of our waqf forefathers who endowed their wealth for charitable purposes.
The programs, which emphasized unity, solidarity, and togetherness, once again kept alive the spiritual dimension of our waqf culture. Following the programs, mawlid sweets and various refreshments were offered to citizens.
