WAQF MONUMENTS DAMAGED IN THE EARTHQUAKE RESTORED IN 2025

The restoration efforts initiated by our Directorate General to revive waqf monuments damaged in the 6 February earthquakes yielded significant results throughout 2025. Within this framework, in the provinces affected by the disaster, the restoration of 73 waqf monuments was completed and these structures were reopened for worship and visitation, while the restoration and repair works of 176 waqf monuments continued in a planned and systematic manner.

OUR ONGOING AND COMPLETED WORKS

Within the scope of the provinces under the responsibility of the Gaziantep Regional Directorate of Foundations:

• In Gaziantep, restoration works were completed for 12 monuments, which were reopened for worship and visitation, while works continued on 13 monuments.
• In Kahramanmaraş, 3 monuments were completed, restoration works continued on 16 monuments, and 14 monuments were projected to be reopened by the month of Ramadan.
• In Kilis, restoration works were completed for 6 monuments, works continued on 10 monuments, and 6 monuments were planned to be reopened by Ramadan.

Under the responsibility of the Hatay Regional Directorate of Foundations:

• In Hatay, 9 monuments were reopened, 1 monument was fully restored, and restoration works continued on 82 monuments.
• In Antakya, restoration works were completed for 11 monuments, while 4 monuments were planned to be reopened for worship and visitation upon completion.
• In Osmaniye, restoration works were completed for 3 monuments.

Within the scope of the Malatya Regional Directorate of Foundations:

• In Malatya, restoration works were completed for 6 monuments, and works continued on 19 monuments.
• In Elazığ, restoration works were completed for 3 monuments.

Under the responsibility of the Diyarbakır Regional Directorate of Foundations:

• In Diyarbakır, restoration works were completed for 2 monuments, while works continued on 5 monuments.
• In Bingöl, restoration works were completed for 1 monument, and works continued on 1 monument.

Within the scope of the Şanlıurfa Regional Directorate of Foundations:

• In Şanlıurfa, restoration works were completed for 15 monuments, and works continued on 10 monuments.
• In Adıyaman, restoration works were completed for 1 monument, while works continued on 9 monuments.

Under the responsibility of the Adana Regional Directorate of Foundations:

• In Adana, restoration works continued on 7 monuments.
