DIRECTOR GENERAL MR. BURHAN ERSOY’S CONTACTS WITH THE TURKISH REPUBLIC OF NORTHERN CYPRUS
Director General Mr. Burhan Ersoy and Deputy Director General Erol Ökten visited the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) as a part of a series of visits to examine the foundation works in TRNC.
The program, hosted by the Director General of TRNC Foundations PhD. İbrahim F. Benter started with a visit to the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus(TRNC), H.E. Ersin Tatar. During the visit to the President H.E. Tatar, restoration works carried out jointly with the T.R. Directorate General of Foundations and TRNC Directorate General of Foundations and their processes were discussed. In the second half of the program a visit was paid to TRNC Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Energy H.E. PhD Erhan Arıklı as well.
The Restoration work of TRNC Selimiye Mosque was accelerated.
The Director General of Foundations Burhan Ersoy, visited the Selimiye Mosque which was an important belief center of Nicosia. Mr Ersoy stated that the restoration works, started by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Directorate General of Foundations which were slowed down due to the pandemic should be accelerated and the mosque should be opened to worship in a short time.
Within the scope of his visit Director General Burhan Ersoy also made examinations in the Dükkanlar Önü Mosque in North Nicosia.
Mr. Burhan Ersoy who made evaluations about his visit to TRNC stated that we are working on the revival of foundation works in TRNC in harmony with The TRNC Directorate General of Foundatios.
Ersoy said that “After being appointed this is our first visit to TRNC. And so first of all we paid a visit to the President of TRNC H.E. Ersin Tatar and held a meeting on our cooperation for the preservation and restoration of the historical heritage in the country and added that TR Directorate General of Foundations and TRNC Directorate General of Foundatios. are working in cooperation for revival of our foundation works in TRNC.
Here we have two important works under restoration. One of them is Selimiye Mosque which has an important place in faith tourism and the other is the Dükkanlar Önü Mosque which has an important place due to its location but was destroyed in 1962 due to neglect and we started to restore it too and our work on the revival and construction of both of our foundation works are still continuing. We held our converstions on specially to recover for the delay in the restoration of The Selimiye Mosque due to the pandemic and to complete it immediately and open it to worship.”
