DIRECTOR GENERAL OF FOUNDATIONS BURHAN ERSOY AND ACCOMPANYING DELEGATION MADE A SERIES OF VISITS IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
Director General of Foundations Burhan Ersoy and accompanying delegation went to Bosnia and Herzegovina capital city Sarajevo to examine the works under restoration on site and to implement new projects to life.

BASÇARŞI (Hodja Durak) MOSQUE
The restoration works initiated by the Directorate General of Foundations in 2017 were completed in April 2020.
While the interior and exterior of the five-century-old mosque in Başçarşı Square, which is described as “The heart of Sarajevo” has gained a new look after the restoration, the hand drawn works and acoustics in the mosque attract attention. Making a statement about the Başçarşı Mosque which could not be officially opened due to the pandemic Director General Burhan Ersoy emphasized that they would continue their work without slowing down to protect the common cultural heritage and strengthen the ties of brotherhood in Bosnia and Herzegovina which he describes as a friendly and brotherly country. Ersoy, in his speach said “We are happy in keeping the Turkish and Bosnian brotherhood alive with Başçarşı Mosque, one of the most important monuments of the center located in Başçarşı an Ottoman Bazaar established in the 16th century and belong to the Hodja Durak Mosque Foundation. We could not maket the official opening due to the pandemic but as of 2020 it has been opened for worship.
During the visit made by the Directorate General of Foundations within the framework of brotherhood between the two countries and institutions it was stated that 2 of the 12 works have been completed so far, 7 of them will be completed in 2021 and the study of 5 works will be started in 2021.
SARAJEVO ISLAMIC UNION PRESIDENCY BUILDING WILL BE COMPLETED IN 2021…
The protocol regarding the completion of the construction of Bosnia and Herzegovina Islamic Union Presidency Buılding which was started by the Libyan State in 2007 but could not be completed on the real estate which thought to belong to the Gazi Hüsrev Bey Foundation was signed by the instruction of President of T.R. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The Islamic Union, which is the religious organization of the Muslims of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Presidency Building which its construction was started with the signing of the contract in 2018 planned to open on August 29,2021.
The General Director of Foundations Burhan Ersoy evaluated his visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ersoy said “Our aim is to personally follow up our on going works in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to complete our deficiencies and to start new works. “Our goal is to give direction to new works in 2022. As the Directorate General of Foundations , we will exist and will continue to exist in the revival and survival of every work that remains a heirloom to us from our ancestors in entire Islamic geography, including Ottoman Artifacts. I would also like to state that we are a close follower of the projects that we continue with the follow up and support of the President of T.R and the Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy”
General Director of Foundations Burhan Ersoy and the accompanying delegation in their visit to Bosnia and Heregovina paid visit to Sarajevo Ambassador Mr. Sadık Babür Girgin and Reisul Ulema Mr. Husein ef Kavazovic. After the delegation examined the Kiseljak Divanhanesi, which its construction was completed in 2020, Fojnica Madrasa, which its construction is about to be completed, Travnik Alaca Mosque which its reconstruction was completed in 2019, Arnavudiye Mosque which its reconstruction was about to be completed, Sanski Most Market Place which its reconstruction is ongoing, Mirkonjicgrand Kızlarağası Mosque, Ali Hodja Mosque , Fatima Kadın Mosque, Haci Bali Mosque, Galcici Haci Murat Sipahi Masjid, Sehovina Opijac Lodge, Sarajevo Isa Bey Bath, Presidency Building, Odabaşı Business Center, Sarajevo Student Dormitory, Baş Çarşı Mosque and Moriça Han and got information about the works on site.
